Type of wine: red
Density: 8,000 vines per hectare.
Type of soil: gravel and sand with some clay nappes.
Grapes varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon.
Pruning: simple Guyot method.
Harvesting: hand-made.
Vinification: in thermoregulated vats for the fermenting
and macerating. Eighteen-month-ageing in barriques.
Tasting notes: a deep ruby red colour. On the nose, the bouquet
is complex with aromas of ripe fruit, forest undergrowth, spices, vanillia
and fine wood. On the palate, the Denarius is remarkably well-balanced,
franck and full on entry, with a nice smooth finish. The aftertaste is
long lasting.
Vintage 2005: James Suckling, from the Wine Spectator magazine, rated the 2005 vintage of Denarius Liber Pater red 85-88: "very impressive concentration for this appellation. Medium to full-bodied, with good tannins and a ripe, fruity finish."
