56 BC: a Roman vineyard. Romans, who arrived in Bordeaux in 56 BC, found on the vineyard a great soil and an exceptional climate, which led them to name it Liber Pater. Soon, Liber Pater wines came to be very appreciated from the Roman aristocracy. Already at that time, they were renowned for their elegancy, fruitiness and very personal native tang. The acknowledgement of the wines’ quality and the strategic commercial position, at the crossroads of important maritime and land routes, enabled a broad diffusion of Liber Pater throughout the Roman empire.
